Product descriptions
Raisins have been popular in Egypt and Persia since 2000 BC. Raisins can be made from many varieties of grapes, usually starting with the bunch and then accelerated by drying. A kg of raisins requires 4-5 kg of juicy grapes.
Importance, effects:
The high energy content of raisins is due to the sugar they contain, so they should not be eaten on their own when dieting or in the case of diabetes, and only in very small quantities when added to fibrous food (e.g. porridge). However, if you are looking for a quick energy boost, raisins are a much better choice than, say, glucose, chocolate or a fizzy drink, as they contain a number of important minerals in addition to sugar, not least potassium.
Uses:
Raisins can spice up even the simplest pastry, Christmas or other festive dishes. In everyday life, it can be eaten in muesli, fruit salad, porridge, energy bars, biscuits or even mixed into yoghurt.
Not only sweets but also salads can be made more special with a few raisins.
