Travel back in time and be part of a tradition that is over 2000 years old!
Colour soap is considered the father of many modern soaps, such as Marseille soaps, Italian soaps and other Mediterranean soaps. The traditional handmade production process and the vegetable origin of the raw material make this colour soap of high quality.
Colour soap based on an ancient recipe
Today, the same ancient recipe is used to make it as in the past. The basic ingredients; lye (sodium hydroxide, soda), water and olive oil are boiled in a large cauldron over a very slow fire for several days. Sodium hydroxide is the lye that separates the lye from the colour soap. This process is called saponification.
The precipitated soap is added over the lye (colour soap). To this, valuable black cumin oil and varying amounts (5%, 12%) of bay leaves may be added. (The sodium hydroxide ratio in the final product is 1:1000, or 0.001 mg!)
