What is Matcha tea?
Matcha tea is a type of tea that has been around for 800 years. Originally used by Buddhist masters and samurai, it has been consumed in Europe for some time. The fresh tea leaves are ground into a fine powder, resulting in a remarkable green colour with a wonderful flavour and exceptional aroma.
What makes Matcha tea different from other green teas?
Matcha is a 100% green tea that is ground to a fine powder (about 5-10 microns), with no fermentation during production. When you drink Matcha tea, you consume the whole tea leaf. This is the main reason why it is 10x stronger than other ordinary green tea.
How to make Matcha tea
Cold:
Mix the tea with water (2 dl - 1.5 l to taste) and blend well. We recommend adding a few drops of lime or a little fruit syrup to taste. For a great taste, mix Matcha tea with water and elderberry syrup. It is important that the Matcha tea is always thoroughly blended. Use a shaker or plastic bottle to prepare it.
Keep warm:
Steep the tea (1 sachet) in water at about 70°C and stir well. A small whisk is ideal for preparing the tea. To achieve a great taste, add honey and lime. For a softer taste, you can serve it with milk.

What can I make with Matcha tea?
Matcha tea is a unique product because of the many ways it can be prepared. Matcha tea can be used to make a variety of hot and cold drinks, cocktails, ice cream and chocolate. Matcha is not only used by restaurants, cafes and tea shops, but also by pastry chefs, chefs, bakers, etc.
The colour of Matcha tea
Matcha is a 100% pure green tea. It contains no colouring, additives or preservatives. It owes its emerald green colour to the high content of chlorophyll. Every year, 4 weeks before harvesting, the tea plants are covered. This special shading method reduces the sun's rays on the tea leaves by 90%, allowing the plants to grow in almost total darkness, compensating for the lack of sunlight by producing large amounts of chlorophyll. This is the reason for the emerald green colour.
The quality of Matcha tea
Like wine, Matcha tea has a wide range of quality grades. It is important to think about the quality of Matcha tea. The main quality factors include:
- Flavour : Good quality Matcha has a soft, smooth slightly sweet taste. The sweet taste is due to the naturally occurring L-theanine amino acids and plant
