- Eating foods that are low in calories and fat but rich in unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids, such as fish meat, has a positive effect on the heart and circulatory system.
- Avoid eating too much salt, sugar, trans-fatty acids (margarine, fried foods), and oils that are used repeatedly.
- TCM recommends red fruits and fruits in general to support the heart: pomegranate, hawthorn, jujube, tree mushrooms, balsam pear, lotus seeds, grapes and other fruits high in flavonoids.
- Daily physical activity is important, not primarily strenuous exercise, but persistent, slow effort.
- The best exercise for preventing heart disease is walking for at least 45 minutes a day or swimming.

- Avoid smoking and bad breath.
