WHAT CAN WE KNOW ABOUT PLANTS?
Sideritis sp. species, which are the main constituent of tea, are widespread in the Mediterranean region. Systematically, they belong to the Labiatae family. This plant family includes a number of active medicinal plants containing essential oils. They are distributed in Greece, Turkey, Spain and the Balkan Peninsula. Several species are consumed both as a tea for pleasure and as a medicinal herb. Not yet included in pharmacopoeias. Its medicinal properties were described by the ancient physician Dioscorides in his book De Materia Medica. It has been reviewed and recognised by the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Mentha pulegium tea has a pleasant smell and taste. Reminiscent of other mints, with a mild, characteristic but pleasant side flavour. Its beneficial effects on the digestive system make it a suitable ingredient for digestive teas, as is peppermint. Its anti-inflammatory properties are remarkable. The aqueous extract of the leaf is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal. Cat's claw, green tea leaf, medicinal lemongrass leaf, ginger root and cloves are herbs with a long history of proven efficacy, well known and used in pharmacopoeias.
